Mateo likes pink and his mother Libertad. But one day in this world of just two voices, Mateo is told he suffers from cancer.
For his second feature film after the disturbing Pieles (Skins), also produced by Carolina Bang and Álex De La Iglesia, Eduardo Casanova uses horror cinema to evoke toxic mother/son relationships while drawing a parallel... with the North Korean dictatorship. He borrows from Saint-Sulpician aesthetics to better abuse them, somewhere between Brian Yuzna, Jeffrey Silverthorne and Pierre & Gilles, giving birth to this oniric queer orgiastic demented tornado. Intimate; desperate, on edge, Piety is like its creator, an artist who knows only gutsy, almost suicidal total art. A great connivance with the actors was a must on such a project, and among them, Angela Molina is just monstrous ! You can expect...No, don’t expect anything.
