An insurance salesman who's lost belief in anything, decides, after several failed suicide attempts, to put his life on sale on the internet. At his own risk.
Freely adapted from Yukio Mishima eponymous novel, Life for Sale begins like a dark comedy, before veering off onto more unexpected paths. In a disconcerting mix of genres and tones, it multiplies plot twists, turning into a violent and absurd pop noir movie, a melodrama, and even into a scifi film. A heir to 90's aesthetics and editing (sometimes evoking Danny Boyle), the motley form chosen by Tom Teng disguises the allegorical solitude of lives sold out to the system and whose hearts have stopped beating. Paradoxically, under this lust for death, the pulse of life still slumbers.
