Anna works as a security agent in a tower on the edge of a forest. Everyone wants to join this protected community, and that seems to be the last trace of our civilization. But the disappearance of the watchman‘s dog will threaten this already fragile equilibrium...
For her first feature film Natalia Sinelnikova swaps cottages lost in the woods for a concrete tower, while still exploring their allegorical dimension. How does irrational fear set in, how the little grain of sand in the machinery can bring the whole social construct down? The filmmaker scrutinizes the fall of our civilization in this dystopia where the survivor’s microcosm gradually disintegrates. She excels in oppressive still shots, geometric abstraction and her sense of deviant framing that spawns dread.
