Around Conann
Bertrand Mandico uses his theatrical stint at the Amandiers theater, cut short by Covid, to sublimate it into a cinema epic and to film behind the scenes. Imaginary making-ofs and mise en abyme, these codicils to Conann prolong its thematics. With his forfeit at the heart of his creative process.Mandico, in this polymorph project, questions the place of culture and cinema in a devastated world, lost to barbarity, that has thrown its spiritual values to the wolves of materialism and money. The results are apocalyptic twilit scenes, wild feasts, where humor and his love for his actresses alleviate the nihilist atmosphere. and where Christophe Bier, stands out, as a double of the director and a master of the “Me”. On this stage-planet, carnage rules, but Art prevails.
