Corey wakes up in a car driving him to an unknown house. But what do this woman scientist and the man she figures to be an ex-cop expect from him? Are they really what they pretend to be? And is he himself really a journalist? A fragile reality threatens to evaporate at any moment.
With this low budget UFO (unidentified filmic object) shot in utmost secrecy, Ben Wheatley returns to his experimental vein (A Field In England), that is also artisanal and intimate. He mixes genres and techniques, video collages, and cars and other models placed in artificial sets. Somewhere between Aronofski’s PI and Mark Z. Danielewski’s novel House of Leaves, Wheatley excels in the art of mental chaos, plunging us into the vertigo of multiple realities. A captivating and playful maze in which we’re happy to lose ourselves.
