When you try to lift your head out of a hole, there’s always someone to push you back in. Take Luc, a lost junkie. His wife has left him. Social services have taken his daughter. As he tries to win back his ex, now a waitress in a bar, he gets caught up in a drug deal. A fight breaks out. Left for dead, his head stuck in the hole of a Turkish toilet, he has the whole night to get himself out… and bring his lost family back together.
A ravenous cinephile and a fan of Asian cinema, Grégory Morin has been well schooled.. Both punchy, frenetic, and funny, his film inherits the aesthetic of violent Korean thrillers laced with dark humor and absurdity, with a touch of madness and a clear delight in tormenting his loser hero, that Takashi Miike himself wouldn’t have disowned.
