Equipped with cameras, some young activists infiltrate a slaughterhouse, to expose its practices. But they get caught by the security guards and the owner, who’s campaigning for mayor, and is bent on retrieving the evidence and intimidating the idealists, supported by his well armed cronies.
After High Lane, Abel Ferry once again demonstrates his love for survival movies but adds a political awareness, by perfectly mastering his mayhem narrative as did Serge Leroy in The Track. When the boss waves the threat of unemployment, how far will the desperate employees go? Given his entourage, there’s not much doubt about the future mayor’s political leanings, played with relish by Olivier Gourmet, in this very timely and devilishly well crafted French Chainsaw Massacre.
