Brand new master
Oryū learns that the yakuza boss who had taken her in at Tomioka, a town producing silk, has been murdered by a rival gang bent on taking over the business. She returns to Tomioka to investigate.
According to Norifumi Suzuki, even before the release of the first opus, the second one was almost ready. In fact, with him as the director, this second opus loses a little delicacy in favor of bloody excess, triviality and humor. Though constrained by ninkyo eiga, we can feel the filmmaker’s desire to revel in the delights of exploitation movies, that he will turn to a few years later. It’s a pleasure to see Junko Fuji so elegantly rebuff masculine vulgarity.
