Nobody likes the film project by Gu Han-ah, a woman with blue hair reeking of misandry. Only Song Cheol dares to tell her, persuaded that if his own script isn’t getting any funding, it’s because he lacks femininity. He suggests a collaboration that will benefit them both.
Before and behind the camera Lee Jong-min and Yeum Moon-kyong recreate the beauty of craftsmanship and DIY. Witty dialogue, B-movie references, Michel Gondry-style comings and goings in the heroes’ creation, eccentric rom-com: this offbeat pop comedy insidiously installs its melancholy and its reflection on the evolution of post #metoo cinema, calling out certain toxic Korean filmmakers from the “old world” without naming them. But the essential endures: cinema is life.
