With a young mediumnic woman as a sidekick, an incorruptible detective is confronted with terrifying supernatural cases in the village of Karatas. Though he’s pressured into closing these cases, he persists in trying to understand.
When Adilkhan Yerzhanov announces a TV series of terrifying Kazakh stories, we can be pretty sure he won’t do it like anyone else. From the initial images, we recognize his music: an absurd bureaucracy, desolate steppes, nonsensical humor. Without forgetting to scare us, through a love for the genre’s classics and tales from his homeland. He installs a very personal atmosphere, evocative less of the X-Files than a Kazakh Twin Peaks. You’ll love following this Sherlock of the supernatural and his sidekick. An already cult series.
