In a 2030 dystopian feline Tokyo, Tamala, a very cute, vain, and temperamental female cat, is inadvertently implicated in her friend detective Michelangelo’s investigation. Their inquiry revolves around seven cats gone missing at the same time, leading them down mystical paths, with apocalyptic and cosmic consequences!
Don’t be fooled by appearances, as behind its cute and childish visuals, this second installment of Tamala (no need to have seen the first one to follow this one) proves to be both entertaining and complex, playful and conceptual, from its runtime to the themes it explores; the sci-fi setting doesn’t hide the underlying political and ecological issues. Plus, it’s totally fun to watch Tamala, drawn in an Astro Boy style, spouting profanities in a sweet Hello Kitty voice, while addicted to her smartphone. In short, a cat in tune with her times.
