Between 2008 and 2011, ten thousand people were admitted into the Jejune Institute, a mysterious organisation promising them an alternate reality game that would change their lives… Though not quite the way they expected. Director Spencer McCall relates this strange adventure from the participants point of view.
Sometimes, reality goes beyond the maddest scifi concepts… unless Spence McCall is perversely misleading us, between mockumentary and documentary, without giving us keys to tell what is true or false. He suggests that the real guinea pigs of this filmic experiment are maybe ourselves. A striking reflection on image and an era when truth and reality have become malleable and evanescent concepts.

A hypnotic plunge into a parallel universe… or the bizarre adventure of the Jejune Institute. A mysterious fictional organisation, implanted in the streets of San Francisco, that managed to attract thousands of participants. Something like a cross between a post-modern underground cult, an immersive work of art, and an incredible mass manipulation.
