Blaise was born as a comic book penned by Dimitri Planchon in 2009, later adapted for Arte in the form of an animated series of shorts, co-directed with JP Guigue. For this feature film version, rather than to remake everything, they allow their character, a seven year old when he first appeared, to grow up. Satirical but filled with empathy, this humorous and moving portrait of a tormented teenager, living in a sadly contemporary family, successfully blends cruelty with absolute tenderness.
