A nurse in a palliative care unit is about to spend the night with her patient. An old woman suffering from dementia, both scary and touching. As the hours go by, increasingly unsettling events defy explanation, unleashing even more sinister forces. For Julia, the challenge will be to survive.
Bury the Devil takes on the challenge of using just one 80 minute long single shot, made all the more impressive by the way it manages to make us forget about it. In real time and in a single location, the viewer wanders through corridors towards evil, sharing Julia’s perceptions and becoming the actor of a temporally unbroken terror. Adam O’Brien brilliantly pays tribute to his models, modernizing gothic archetypes in a mood reminiscent of Damien McCarthy (Oddity, Hokum).
