Having recently moved into an idyllic country house, Marie sees this as a chance for a fresh start for both her family and her marriage. But her baby is abducted. Following the advice of an enigmatic stranger with a tragic past, she brings the child back one evening, covered in blood. Her husband's joy quickly gives way to suspicion: what if the cute baby in the cradle wasn’t really his son?
Caleb Philips sets an immediately mysterious tone and constructs a horror mechanism that seems so familiar it instantly leads us astray. That’ll teach us to be so clever! In a mindset not far from Christopher Smith’s Triangle, he delights in turning our brains inside out. His brand of fantasy subjects us to a misanthropic spectacle of humanity for a very sardonic allegory on the ideal American family. Twisted and mind-bending!
