After a ceremony meant to eradicate their “homosexual impulses”, two young men are chased by an entity that takes the shape of what they desire the most: one another.
Not only is Australian horror cinema in great shape, but, like the Philippou brothers, it continues to explore the topics explored so brilliantly by Wes Craven: horror as an expression of teenage angst in the face of those who should be protectors and serve as role models: adults. By turning the discovery of sex into a terrifying experience, Adrian Chiarella might appear to have just created a gay variation on It Follows; that would be forgetting Leviticus is also a magnificent love story.
