1982. Eddie, a borderline French actress, goes to Rome with her devoted makeup artist, to star in a science-fiction film that may well be her last. The rhythms of the Eternal City and the chaos of show business engulf her into her own convulsive fantasies.
Bertrand Mandico transcends his cinephilia to make it the very substance of his art, transposing his world into Fellini’s, to whom he declares his love. In this feminine Toby Dammit, death is hiding at the end of every path. The filmmaker pushes his declaration of love to actresses to its limits as well as his thoughts on their tragic ageing. While Marion Cotillard and Noémie Merlant naturally surrender to Mandico’s cinematic language, Ornella Muti and Franco Nero make splendid, spectral and eternal appearances.
