A police officer in the forensic science unit, Ippei Aoba has a loyal partner, Oliver, his faithful dog whom everyone mistakes for a German Shepherd. Ippei knows that his companion is really an old man with a furry costume, an alcoholic who chases women to lick them! They must investigate a series of strange events.
Adapting his comedy series into a feature film, Joe Odagiri pushes reality into the absurd with a dazzling sense of slapstick and its repetitive humor. Gosh!! offers a dazzling pop fantasy with a craftsmanship of imagination that directly evokes the wild delirium of Nobuhiko Ōbayashi (House). With its doors opening onto other dimensions, its Twin Peaks-esque afterlife cabaret, and its split screens that turn into comic book panels, Gosh!! draws us into its unrestrained playful spiral and leaves us with a smile on our faces. Beware, UFO (Unidentified Filmic Object)!
